The unit is an Industrial wall-mounted Managed Switch that offers IPv6/IPv4 dual stack management, intelligent Layer 2 management functions, and a user-friendly interface. The WGS-4215-8P2S offers reliable and silent operation.
With a total power budget of up to 200 watts to suit a variety of PoE applications, the unit offers fast transmission speed and extreme operating temperatures ranging between -40 to 75°C in a compact but rugged IP30 metal enclosure. The WGS-4215-8P2S is an ideal solution that meets the demands of the following network applications:
PLANET Network Management System (NMS) Solution
The WGS-4215-8P2S supports PLANET’s NMS via CloudViewer App which is an Intelligent App to monitor your network from the cloud. With a cloud network, it makes data and services available from anywhere with an Internet connection. With PLANET CloudViewer, your network status can be monitored in real time anytime, anywhere via your mobile phone or tablet. User can easily check network status, device information, and port and PoE statuses from the cloud to reduce management costs.
Built-in Unique PoE Functions for Powered Devices Management
The managed PoE switch also features the following advanced PoE management functions:
Intelligent Powered Device Alive Check
The WGS-4215-8P2S can be configured to monitor connected PD (Powered Device) status in real time via ping requests. If connected PDs stop working and responding, the WGS-4215-8P2S will resume the PoE port power and reactivate the PD. The unit will greatly enhance network reliability through the PoE port resetting of the PDs power source.
Scheduled Power Recycling
The WGS-4215-8P2S allows each of the connected PoE IP cameras or PoE wireless access points to reboot at a specific time each week. This will reduce IP camera or AP crash incidents that result from buffer overflow.
PoE Scheduling for Energy Efficiency
The WGS-4215-8P2S is an energy-efficient device that can effectively control the power supply in addition to its high wattage performance. The PoE schedule function helps users enable or disable PoE power feeding for each PoE port during specified time interval. This helps SMBs and enterprises save power and resources. This feature also increases security by powering off PDs that should not be in use during non-business hours.
Innovative Wall-mount Design
The WGS-4215-8P2S is specifically designed to be installed in narrow environment, such as wall enclosure or an electric weak box. The flat compact design fits easily in any space-limited location. The unit adopts an user-friendly Front Access design that simplifies installation, cable wiring, and LED monitoring for technicians. The WGS-4215-8P2S can be installed by fixed wall mounting, magnetic wall mounting or DIN rail, thereby making its usability more flexible.
Environmentally Hardened Design
The unit features a rugged IP30 metal enclosure that provides a high level of immunity against electromagnetic interference and heavy electrical surges typically found on plant floors or curb-side traffic control cabinets that lack air conditioning. The unit can operate in temperatures ranging between -40 to 75°C. The WGS-4215-8P2S can be placed in almost any harsh environment.
IPv6/IPv4 Dual Stack Management
The unit supports both IPv6 and IPv4 protocols. The WGS-4215-8P2S helps SMBs prepare for the IPv6 era with a low investment eliminating the need to replace or overhaul a network if the IPv6 FTTx edge network has been set up.
Robust Layer 2 Features
The WGS-4215-8P2S can be programmed for advanced switch management functions such as dynamic port link aggregation, 802.1Q VLAN, Q-in-Q VLAN, Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol (MSTP), Loop and BPDU Guard, IGMP Snooping, and MLD Snooping. Via the link aggregation, the WGS-4215-8P2S allows the operation of a high-speed trunk to combine with multiple ports such as a 16Gbps fat pipe, and supports fail-over as well. Also, the Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP) is the Layer 2 protocol included to help discover basic information about neighboring devices on the local broadcast domain.
Effective Traffic Control
The WGS-4215-8P2S features with robust QoS features and powerful traffic management that enhance business-class data, voice, and video solutions. The unit supports broadcast/multicast/unicast storm control, per port bandwidth control, 802.1p/CoS/IP DSCP QoS priority and remarking. The unit ensures reliable VoIP and video streaming transmission performance and allows enterprises to take full advantage of limited network resources.
User-Friendly and Secure Management
For efficient management, the WGS-4215-8P2S is equipped with web, Telnet and SNMP management interfaces. With a built-in web-based management interface, the WGS-4215-8P2S offers an easy-to-use, platform-independent management and configuration facility. By supporting the standard SNMP, the switch can be managed via any standard management software. For text-based management, the switch can be accessed via Telnet. In addition, the WGS-4215-8P2S offers secure remote management by supporting SSH, SSL and SNMP v3 connections which encrypts packet content at each session.
Advanced Network Security
The WGS-4215-8P2S offers a comprehensive IPv4/IPv6 Layer 2 to Layer 4 Access Control List (ACL) to enforce security to the edge. Its protection mechanism also comprises of 802.1X port-based user and device authentication which can be deployed with RADIUS to ensure port level security and block illegal users. With the protected port function, communication between edge ports can be prevented to guarantee user privacy. Furthermore, the WGS-4215-8P2S also provides DHCP snooping, IP source guard and dynamic ARP inspection functions to prevent IP snooping from attack and discarded ARP packets with invalid MAC address. Network administrators can now construct highly-secure corporate networks in considerably less time than before
Long-distance Extension Solution
The two built-in mini-GBIC slots support SFP auto-detection and dual speed as it features 100BASE-FX and 1000BASE-SX/LX SFP (Small Form-factor Pluggable) fiber transceivers to uplink to the backbone of a switch and monitoring center located at distant locations. The distance can be extended from 550 meters to 2 kilometers (multi-mode fiber) and up to 10/20/30/40/50/60/70/120 kilometers (single-mode fiber or WDM fiber). The units are well suited for applications within the enterprise data centers and distributions.
Intelligent SFP Diagnostics
The WGS-4215-8P2S supports SFP-DDM (Digital Diagnostic Monitor) function that can easily monitor real-time parameters of the SFP for network administrator, such as optical output power, optical input power, temperature, laser bias current and transceiver supply voltage.
