RS232-controllable microphone switcher/mixer for use with remote, monitored audio surveillance systems. The SM8-RC connects to video/audio transmission equipment with an available RS232 port that uses telephone, internet or LAN media. The SM8-RC is useful when the transmission equipment lacks sufficient microphone audio inputs and switching/mixing capabilities. The remote equipment manufacturer must program the SM8-RC to control it via RS232. It powers up to eight SM1 pre-amplified microphones and outputs a line-level audio signal. It can be expanded to support up to 32 microphone zones by looping connections from an SM8-RC to a further three SM8-RCs. The SM8-RCs are controlled via RS232 using simple ASCII commands. See www.etsnm.com for a complete listing of the commands.
