Planet GTP-805A is a 10/100/1000BASE-T to 100/1000BASE-X SFP PoE+ media converter delivering up to 30W (52V DC) Mid-span power (pins 4/5+,7/8-) over Cat5e/6 cabling. Key Features

The GTP-805A is a mid-span PoE+ injector that adds PoE power to non-PoE switches while simultaneously converting copper to fibre. It delivers up to 30W on spare pairs (pins 4/5+, 7/8-) to power 802.3at devices such as PTZ cameras and high-power WAPs, while the SFP slot supports both multi-mode (up to 550m) and single-mode (up to 120km) transceivers for long-distance fibre uplinks.

Technical Context

The converter includes a DIP switch to enable or disable Link Fault Passthrough (LFP), which propagates link failure status between copper and fibre ports — if one segment fails, the other is disabled to trigger failover in connected equipment. It supports store-and-forward switching with flow control, jumbo frames up to 9K bytes, and LED indicators for power, fibre link/activity, copper link/activity, and PoE-in-use status.

Installation Notes

The compact unit (70 × 94 × 26 mm, 0.21kg) operates from 0–50°C with 5–90% RH and is powered by a 52V DC external adapter (included). It connects over Cat5/5e/6 copper up to 100m, with fibre distance determined by the SFP module (sold separately). The injector is TAA-compliant and carries FCC Part 15 Class A and CE certifications.
