PLANET EPN-103 is a GEPON optical network unit (ONU) with one GEPON port, one Gigabit Ethernet port and one RJ-45 Fast Ethernet port. Together with the EPL-2000 terminal, the EPN-103 is a highly effective GEPON solution for FTTx networks. Thanks to the centralized user-friendly GUI, installation is easy and the monitoring and implementation of GEPON is very simple.

An effective cost-effective solution for a passive optical network

With the increase in the number of network services such as HDTV, IPTV, VoIP and broadband multimedia applications, the demand for broadband connections is growing dramatically. PON (Passive Optical Network) is the most promising new generation network technology. Compared to other broadband solutions such as xDSL or cable modem, PON technology offers significant advantages such as long life of fiber infrastructure, lower operating costs by reducing "active" components, signal delivery up to 20km between nodes and, most importantly, higher throughput.

Solid ONU management

The EPN-103 is designed to work with PLANET's EPL-200 2-port OTL to create a robust FFTx application. With the embedded management system (EMS) in the EPL-2000, the administrator can manage and configure facilities such as adding or subtracting OLT and ONU from the network architecture in an easy and economical way. EMS also supports many operational and monitoring functions for efficient ONU management, including ONU auto-discovery, auto-registration, test connection, MAC address assignment, Loopback test as well as filtering, bandwidth control, flow control and streaming control.
