Fiber-Optical Link Capability Enables Extension of Network Deployment
The two SFP slots on the unit are compatible with 100Base-FX or 1000Base-SX / LX / WDM through SFP (Small Form Factor Pluggable) fiber-optic transceivers. The unit’s fiber optic uplink ensures that the throughput to all nodes and the Gigabit Ethernet distance has the ability to be extended to 550 meters with Multi-Mode fiber cable and up to 10/20/30/40/50/70/120 kilometers with Single-Mode fiber cable. The Fast Ethernet distance also can be simply extended to 2km with Multi-Mode fiber cable up to 20/40/60 kilometers. These units are ideal for applications data or distribution centers.
Adjustable 3-Port Switch Mode or 2 Fiber Redundant Mode
Through the unit’s built-in DIP switch, the two SFP fiber interfaces of the unit can be simply configured as Ethernet switch mode or Fiber Redundant mode. With the unit’s Ethernet switch mode, it operates in Store-and-Forward mechanism with optimal performance. When in the 2-port Fiber redundant mode, the unit offers quick fiber redundancy of link for highly critical Ethernet applications. The unit’s redundant mode supports the auto-recovering function. If a packet’s destination port is link-down, it will forward the packet to the other port of the backup pair.
